The call Cathy Hoffman received was the third one this year; mom had started a small fire in the kitchen again because she forgot the food on the stove while she was watching her favorite television show. This is an all too frequent occurrence for seniors living alone. Cathy's mother is a fiercely independent woman who has worked hard her whole life in order to enjoy her senior years. She totally rejects the idea of moving from her house that she has owned for 40 years. Cathy just needs someone to visit her mom and make sure that her life is running smoothly. Cathy's mom needs senior care. Cathy needs REMAINING HOME.
REMAINING HOME uses a multi-faceted approach to home care. We supply qualified, caring caregivers and involve all friends and family members who are willing to lend support.
Caregiver Teamwork: You and your siblings meet and decide, that if your loved one is to remain home; they will need help. Supporting your parents daily living needs involves a lot of small things that can amount to a significant investment in time. If you work together, it shouldn’t be a big strain, but it can be. You need to decide who will assume which duties . What happens to your agreement to work together as life progresses and things change? And things will change. Who picks up the ball when others drop it? How well will the support team hold up under the pressure? When is it appropriate to get help? Perhaps the support team can benefit from a coach or manager as friends and family members are often too close to the situation to be objective. This is where Remaining Home NCSS can help. Here’s what we can do:
Team Organization: Family and friends are organized as a team with support as the goal We help you define what has to be done and get commitments from all team members. Your loved ones will know what care they can expect and who will provide it. If outside support is needed, Remaining Home NCCSS will coordinate and manage these services.
Scheduling: Our secure web based scheduling system will be accessible to all members of your team and will function as a reminder to all who have made commitments to support their loved ones. The system will be maintained by Remaining Home NCCSS who will produce a report card on caregiver performance. In other words, all individuals who make commitments will be held accountable. This way adjustments can be made using real data instead of relying on the team members recollections.
Centralized Billing: As we coordinate caregiver services, we will collect and consolidate bills so that the person responsible for payment receives one bill.
Staying In Touch: Caregiver team members and those receiving care will receive a "team" newsletter that will keep everyone in the loop regarding team performance, family news, a forecast of critical events, and a discussion of key issues that can develop.
